Automation and host parameters

Band frequency, gain, Q, dynamics controls and saturation Drive are available as DAW automation parameters. Setup choices that change latency or the processing engine are saved with your project and presets but excluded from automation, so automation does not change latency.

What you can automate

Parameters are grouped as Global, Split and Band 1 to Band 24. The band number is the number on the band card’s top tab, so “Band 3 Frequency” is the frequency of band 3.

  • Global: “Output Gain”, “Auto Gain” and “Bypass”.
  • Split: “Split EQ Depth” (Depth), “Split Selectivity Low/High” (Transient selectivity), “Split Preset Decay Low/High” (Decay) and “Split Smoothness”.
  • Each band: on/off, shape, frequency, gain, Q, slope, channel routing, the dynamics switch and controls (Threshold, Auto Threshold, Range, Attack, Release, Spectral Smoothness, Spectral Selectivity, Transient Focus), the sidechain settings, and saturation Drive and Compansion.

A few host names differ from the labels in the plugin:

Host parameter In the plugin
Band N Enabled Band Bypass (on = band active)
Band N Type filter shape
Band N Channel Mode band channel routing
Band N Dynamic Range dynamics Range

Slopes show in dB/oct in the host too, such as “30.50 dB/oct” or “Brickwall”, and automation can move the slope smoothly between the listed values.

Saved, but not automatable

These are stored in your project and in presets, but don’t appear in automation lists:

  • the Processing mode and Quality, and each band’s Zero Latency toggle;
  • HQ, and each band’s saturation switch, style, 2x and PRE/POST;
  • each band’s Signal Target (Normal / Transient / Body), and the Split preset, detector and Custom values;
  • the dynamics mode (Broadband / Spectral);
  • Pitch Tracking and all Pitch Tracking Settings.

Changing the shape by automation

Automating “Band N Type” works much like picking a shape on the band card. The one difference: picking a shape without dynamics on the band card switches the band’s dynamics off, while automation only pauses them until the lane returns to a shape that has dynamics.

Notes

  • Loading a preset sends each changed value to the host like a control move, so with a lane in a write mode (Touch, Latch or Write), your DAW may record those changes.
  • Your DAW’s program list shows a single entry called “Default”. Use the plugin’s own presets instead.
