Rest the pointer on a control to see its hint. The Manual and Documentation rows in Settings open the built-in manual and this documentation online. Common problems are listed below.

Common problems

The plugin doesn’t show up in my DAW. Usually the DAW just hasn’t scanned it yet. Run your DAW’s plugin scan, or force a full rescan if a normal one doesn’t find it. Check the format too: Logic uses AU, Pro Tools needs AAX, and Windows has VST3 and AAX. See Installation.

Windows warns about the installer. If SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info > Run anyway.

The license screen doesn’t unlock. Activation runs in your browser and needs an internet connection and a default browser. Check both, then click Activate License or Trial again. If the browser shows success but the plugin keeps waiting, click Cancel and start again. See Activation and trial.

The plugin deactivated. An activated plugin needs to check your license online at least once every 14 days. Connect to the internet and activate again.

A band set to External sidechain doesn’t react. Check your DAW routing (see Using JustAnother EQ in your DAW). To test it, click the headphones in the band’s sidechain popup: silence means nothing is arriving.

What to include

Include these details to help us reproduce the problem:

  • Plugin version: the number next to the logo at the top left of the plugin window.
  • Operating system and its version, for example macOS 14 or Windows 11.
  • DAW and its version.
  • Plugin format: AU, VST3 or AAX.
  • Session sample rate and, for audio problems, the Processing mode.
  • What happened, step by step, and what you expected instead.

If the problem depends on a particular setup, save it as a preset and attach the .JAEQ file (see Presets). For licensing questions, include the License ID from the license screen (Settings > License).

The license agreement is shown during installation and is available at https://justanother.audio/eula/, and our privacy policy is at https://justanother.audio/privacy-policy/. Activation may use a few technical details (such as your OS and plugin version), but we never collect your audio, projects or presets. Payments, invoices and refunds are handled by our payment partner, as described in the license agreement.
